Barcelona 3-1 Manchester United: Best Team In The World Wins

5747881228 dc18e22a56 Barcelona 3 1 Manchester United: Best Team In The World Wins
Barcelona, arguably the greatest football team in the history of the sport, created a magisterial performance Saturday night that made Manchester United, a world power in soccer, look like mere mortals. The Spanish side were deserved 3-1 winners against a United side that were simply outclassed in every position on the field.
The dominance by Barcelona was so one-sided that the game felt like watching a target practice at times. Pep Guardiola’s side controlled the possession, which wasn’t surprising, but they also seemed more hungry to win this game. They put on a football clinic on English soil to prove to the world how exemplary they are.
Manchester United’s first half performance was disguised by one piece of mastery from Wayne Rooney who scored a goal that Barcelona would have been proud of. The goal, which should have been disallowed because Giggs was offside, was the only shot on target by United in the first half. Throughout the rest of the half, United failed to hold possession and consistently lost the ball either by poor passing, wayward goal kicks by Edwin van der Sar or just sheer incompetence.
The three goals that were scored by Barcelona were due to a combination of brilliance from Barcelona and defensive lapses by United. The first goal by Pedro was well taken but Nemanja Vidic gave the striker too much space. Barcelona’s second goal by Lionel Messi was made too easy after Patrice Evra and Nemanja Vidic gave the Argentine too much time and space on the goal to rocket a shot toward goal. Barcelona’s third goal was the result of a weak clearance by Michael Carrick. The ball then found its way to David Villa who picked his spot and chipped in a delightful goal.
The defensive lapses by United were unfortunate given that it’s been one of the best attributes of the Red Devils this season.
This was a frustrating performance by Manchester United. We know that the players have the skill to put on a better performance than this, but they lacked a leader at Wembley who could step up and lift the team. The closest to that was Wayne Rooney who tried to make a difference, but when it’s one man against eleven, it’s an impossible task.
Overall, the biggest difference in this match was Manchester United’s incapability of playing football. When they got the ball, they either lost it or failed to create enough chances for their forwards to take a shot at goal. Javier Hernandez was practically invisible. The addition of Nani failed to create much other than a tame shot. Park Ji-Sung, while defensively sound, was unable to create the golden chances that a club needs to try to win a match. They need new creative midfielders to help their forwards.
Nevertheless, congratulations to Barcelona on a well-deserved victory. In the battle between the best team in the world versus the best manager in the world, the best team won. For United, it’s back to the drawing board.

Verizon Gets a Windows Phone; Huge Handset to Follow?

Windows Phone 7 is finally getting some love from the United States' largest wireless carrier.
HTC's Trophy, a new Windows Phone, lands on Verizon Wireless on May 26, for $150 with a two-year agreement. If you buy a Trophy before July 15, Microsoft and Verizon will sweeten the deal with your choice of Halo: Reach, Kinect Sports or Lode Runner for Xbox 360.
The Trophy itself doesn't have any standout features besides SRS WOW HD speakers, which claim to provide virtual surround sound. Otherwise, it's a simple slab with a 3.8-inch screen, 1 GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera and 8 GB of internal storage. The Trophy runs on Verizon's 3G network and doesn't support 4G LTE.
In fact, most Windows Phones have fairly ordinary specs, which isn't necessarily a bad thing (although more than 8 GB or 16 GB for storage would be nice). But rumors suggest that some more distinct WinPho handsets are on the way.
For instance, HTC's Eternity will reportedly have a 4.7-inch screen, WMPowerUser reports. That'd be the biggest smartphone on the U.S. market unless you count Dell's Streak, a 5-inch device that's technically a tablet. I can only imagine the joy of playing Xbox Live games on a phone with a 4.7-inch screen, though it pains me to think of how it would feel in a pants pocket. HTC is also reportedly planning a Windows Phone called the Omega, which will have a 3.8-inch screen like the Trophy and an 8-megapixel camera.
Both rumored phones will run Windows 7.5, or "Mango," according to WMPowerUser's report. The OS update will add turn-by-turn directions, multitasking for third-party apps, HTML5 support and Twitter integration, among other features, and is coming this fall.
Microsoft's finally filling in the missing pieces on its smartphone platform, and support from Verizon will be a big boost. Now, Microsoft just needs consumers to take notice. I hope the company saved some of its $500 million marketing budget.

Microsoft Blames Intel about Windows 8

Microsoft launched a criticism against Intel with the accused had leaked false information about the latest operating system that will be released.
At a conference in Santa Clara, California, United States (U.S.), one Intel executive Renee James claims to have at least four versions of the Windows OS-based devices 8 for SoC (System on Chip), ARM.
Renee also mentioned, the version of ‘friendly’ ARM for Windows 8 will not be able to run the program ‘legacy’ which is coded for Windows 7, Vista and XP.
Reported by TG Daily and quoted on Friday (05/20/2011), a spokesman for Microsoft then denied the claim and said the information conveyed Intel factually inaccurate.
“Intel’s statement at a meeting of investors about Microsoft’s plans for a new version of Windows is very inaccurate and wrong,”the clarification of the company, based in Redmond, Washington, U.S..
Mentioned Microsoft, since the initial demonstration by the OS with SoC devices, they have very clearly show the purpose and emphasize that his company is still in the stage of technology demonstration.
“So, we have no details or further information at this time,”stated Microsoft.

Osama bin Laden's son says U.S. broke international law 'if' his father is dead

Omar bin Laden
Osama bin Laden's son Omar says he always disagreed with his father about violence, and is now disagreeing with the violence purportedly used against his father.
In a statement written by the Bin Laden family but signed only by Omar, 30, the United States is accused of breaking international law by killing the unarmed terrorist leader without a trial. That is, they said, if the mission was indeed successful.
Omar bin Laden began the statement by saying that he and the family do not believe that the Al Qaeda leader is dead and, like the so-called deathers in this country, want to see photographs and/or video evidence as proof.
"We are not convinced on the available evidence in the absence of dead body, photographs, and video evidence that our natural father is dead," Omar bin Laden wrote in a statement that was released to the New York Times. "Therefore, with this press statement, we seek such conclusive evidence to believe the stories published in relation to 2 May 2011 operation Geronimo as declared by the President of United States Barrack Hussein Obamain his speech that he authorized the said operation and killing of OBL and later confirmed his death."
If his father were "executed," Omar said, he wonders why people such as Saddam Hussein andSlobodan Milosevic were given a chance in front of a judge while his father "was not arrested and tried in a court of law."
In the statement, Omar bin Laden identified himself as "the fourth-born son of our father," and said he "always disagreed with our father regarding any violence and always sent messages to our father, that he must change his ways and that no civilians should be attacked under any circumstances."
When it was announced earlier this month that the elder Bin Laden was dead, U.S. Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. maintained that the mission was indeed legal.
"Let me make something very clear," Holder said. "The operation in which Osama bin Laden was killed was lawful. He was the head of Al Qaeda, an organization that conducted the attacks of September the 11th [2001]. He admitted his involvement."

Boston Bruins are battle-hardened

Are the Boston Bruins on the verge of their first Stanley Cup since the days of Bobby Orr?
After a tough first-round series against Montreal and some redemption in Round 2 against Philadelphia, the Bruins are healthy and rested - not to mention, talented and deep - as they get ready to face Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference final.
It is a match-up that should favour Boston, as the Bruins boast a variety of weapons such as three scoring lines, omnipresent Zdeno Chara and Tim Thomas's netminding. Then again, the Lightning were the underdogs against Pittsburgh and Washington, too, and rallied from a 3-1 series deficit to beat the Penguins and then swept the mighty Capitals.
Boston, however, have a few things going for them that the Pens and Caps did not. With the exception of Patrice Bergeron, the centre who is expected to miss one or two games with a "mild" concussion, the Bruins are about as injury-free as it gets after two rounds of the NHL play-offs.
Pittsburgh played without leading men Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Also, the Bruins have tasted play-off disappointment in recent seasons, highlighted by last year's collapse against the Flyers (the Bruins had a 3-0 series lead and then a 3-0 lead in Game 7, only to lose).
Suffice to say, the Bruins will be motivated to close out a series any time they get the chance.
The Lightning have their share of star forwards in Martin St Louis, Steven Stamkos and Vincent Lecavalier, while Dwayne Roloson has been stellar in the net.
The defence, and the team's overall depth, is years ahead of where it was a couple of seasons ago. Their coach Guy Boucher's transitional style of play has been a big success, and Steve Yzerman, the general manager, is the stabilising force the franchise needed. It would be foolish to underestimate the Bolts after their seven consecutive play-off wins.
But the Bruins are more play-off tested, more bonded by the ups and downs of the past few years.
As a team, they have been through some battles together.
Perhaps history is on Boston's side, too. Last season, it was the Original Six's Chicago claiming their first cup in 49 years. So this time around, why not the Original Six's Boston Bruins claiming their first cup in 39 years? It has a certain symmetry to it, at least.

NBA old guard will not go gracefully

What have they done to the NBA play-offs? Do Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers, or Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs, not big-foot their way into every finals?
Are the Dallas Mavericks not required to take an exit ramp off the post-season road well before expectations? And is 30 suddenly the new 50 for ageing veterans?
Indeed, these are not your grandfather's play-offs, even if many stars are playing like old-timers.
Bizarre basketball began last month with San Antonio's first-round dismissal by the Memphis Grizzlies, which prompted the question: when did Memphis acquire a team?
The Spurs rolled out a line-up with only one player under 30 - and Tony Parker will be there in just over a year, joining elder statesmen Duncan (35), Manu Ginobili (34), Richard Jefferson (30) and Antonio McDyess (36).
As decrepit as the Spurs looked, they could be the Lakers, who were eliminated in the second round by Dallas and might belong on the cover of Soap Opera Digest more than Sports Illustrated.
The Lakers are loaded down with eight players under contract next season who have celebrated the big 3-0. Unless Ron Artest (31), Derek Fisher (36), Lamar Odom (31), Pau Gasol (30) and three minor contributors in their age bracket sip from the fountain of youth, Los Angeles might be a Los Cause in the short term.
In fact, the only marketable player on this US$91 million (Dh334m) roster, the most expensive in the league, is Andrew Bynum (23).
At least he was until Sunday, when a despicable cheap shot that led to a well-deserved ejection damaged the centre's reputation. It also means he will begin next season under suspension.
And Bryant (32) might want to leave predictions to others. With his team trailing three games to nil, Bryant insisted the Lakers would sweep the remaining four. Next game, Mavs win by 36.
You would think that a squad full of middle-agers is immune to personal distractions that are more likely to prey on 20-somethings.
But, no. One popular theory floating around Hollywood is that Odom's game suffered because he was preoccupied with the reality show Khloe & Lamar, in which he co-stars with his wife, one of the many Kardashian sisters.
Another is that Gasol is on barely speaking terms with Bryant. The word is, Gasol blames a break-up with his longtime girlfriend partly on interference from Bryant's wife.
There can be only one reason why Phil Jackson declined to confirm his retirement as coach on Sunday. He felt obligated to first inform Lakers executive vice-president Jeanie Buss - his longtime girlfriend.
Not all over-30 players are limping around like Zen Master Jackson. Jason Kidd (38) is wheeling and dealing in Dallas. He set up Jason Terry and Peja Stojakovic, both 33, for a combined 15-of-16 three pointers in the knockout game of the Lakers series. Dirk Nowitzki (32) keeps improving with age.
A model for how older players should perform, the Mavs move the ball as if they get paid per pass. Their arms may grow weary. Their legs, not so much.
Mark Cuban, the team owner, has peeled off part of his fortune to acquire lavishly-paid players who have become notorious for delivering 50-plus wins in the regular season and disappointment in the play-offs.
The Mavs might be setting up their T-shirted billionaire boss for another May meltdown, but they will be favoured in the Western Conference finals against the winner of the series between the Oklahoma City and the Grizzlies.
The Celtics, facing Father Time as well Miami, are trying to wring every last drop out of Ray Allen (35), Kevin Garnett (35 as of next week) and Paul Pierce (33).
Boston is so enamoured with oldies that they traded Kendrick Perkins and entrusted the back-up centre role to Shaquille O'Neal (39).
On Monday, the Heat, their three stars all south of age 30, shoved the Celts within one game of "Hey, hey, hey, goodbye."
When the play-offs dawned, we were unaware that Gasol had a sibling. Since, we have not only been introduced to Marc Gasol, but wonder if he might be the better basketball brother. Marc plays for Memphis.

Microsoft ahead of Facebook and Google on Final Lap

So far, the news release of Skype ownership would only speak on two names, Facebook and Google. There was no name on the list of potential buyers Microsoft, but it turns on the last lap, the giant software maker succeeded in making the maneuver.
Yes, in a report issued by The Wall Street Journal, Microsoft mentioned a step to control Skype. Funds needed to redeem the video call service provider sites were estimated at more than $ 7 billion.
Indeed, that figure was about twice larger than the figures facebook predicted about the value of Skype. Site made by Mark Zuckerberg was previously reported to have to weigh the price of Skype in the range of USD 3-4 billion.
No doubt, the issue in the Internet industry the world had led to the name facebook in the front row in the hunt for Skype. Founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg is even said to have internal talks to discuss the takeover plans for Skype.
Other news surfaced, the proposed joint venture between facebook with Skype when the conversation does not meet the acquisition agreement.
Another strong candidate is the buyer Skype Google. A source has stated that this Internet giant has also begun initial talks with Skype. It’s just that the subject related to the possibility of doing joint ventures.
But Google’s position when it is considered less powerful by Facebook. Analyst opinion, rather than with Google, Skype is better with Facebook. Eric Jackson, founder and manager of investment firm Ironfire Capital said, Skype is more profitable to unite with facebook when viewed from the ownership of assets.
“No surprise to me if both companies (the Facebook and Google-ed.) Drawn to Skype. It’s just that, it would be profitable (for Skype) for the joint facebook rather than Google,” he said.
Google itself has a voice and video chat service, so when the fact is the sites Skype video call service provider, this will be a ‘strange’, added the analyst with Hudson Square Research Rory Maher.
“Certainly there are opportunities that can be used if Google united with Skype, but I think this will get more leverage if the joint facebook,” he continued.
Just in an instant, Microsoft suddenly stabbed into the front row in the Skype hunt to overtake facebook  and Google. Skype and Microsoft is still not giving an official statement about this hot issue. But The Wall Street Journal believes that this is an issue that can be trusted. Because leaked by sources close to the parties concerned.

YouTube rental Thousands of Hollywood films

YouTube want to spoil the movie lovers in the United States (U.S.) by renting thousands of movies online. This step shows the YouTube effort to woo Americans away from the television.
“You just spent 15 minutes a day to see YouTube, but can spend five hours a day watching television,” said a spokesman for YouTube, Salar Kamangar, quoted by AFP on Tuesday (10/05/2011).
He mentioned, for supporting the availability of more content-rich films, the services can be accessed at www.youtube.com/movies are also embracing the amateur video-makers who can attract the attention of TV viewers.
“Is that a short trailer of a movie, parody funny movie, or a full-length blockbuster movies, we invite you to sit comfortably and enjoy the experience of watching a movie through YouTube,” Kamangar said.
The films are rented YouTube is mostly old movies. But Google’s video sharing service is also working with several Hollywood movie studios like Sony Pictures, Warner Brothers, Universal and Lionsgate to provide a variety of new movies

Manchester City stars against Tottenham

MANCHESTER  The surprise defeat at Everton at the weekend has cost Roberto Mancini, the Manchester City manager, a chance to rest players against Tottenham Hotspur tonight ahead of Saturday's FA Cup final.
With a six-point advantage in the race for the Premier League's final Champions League spot and just three games remaining, it is hard to see out-of-form Tottenham clawing back the deficit even if they manage to win tonight's Premier League tussle with City at Eastlands.
A home win will end all debate on the matter though, which is why Mancini wants to get the job done. The Italian's worry is that his key men may end up tired, which will hamper preparations for the club's first cup final appearance in 30 years, against Stoke City.
"I don't think we have a problem for fourth spot," he said. "We still have three games left and we only need three points But it was important we beat Everton because we have to prepare well for the final.
"Now I shall play with all the [first] team against Tottenham. That is not perfect for the final."
It looks increasingly likely Carlos Tevez, the captain, will play some part, which would pave the way for the Argentine striker to lead City out at Wembley Stadium.
The aim for Mancini and his players is to have secured at least a place in August's Champions League qualifiers before then.
"For us now it is about completing the job," Nigel de Jong, the combative midfielder, said.

"This is what we all wanted and hoped for at the beginning of the season. It was a tough road with all the new signings but they have done very well and now we have the opportunity to get that Champions League place and the first silverware.
"That was the main reason why everyone came to this club and hopefully, at the end of the road, we can say we got there."
Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham manager, was dealt more bad news yesterday after Gareth Bale was ruled out of the club's tricky run-in.
Bale will miss the remainder of the season after a scan confirmed he suffered a ruptured ankle ligament against Blackpool at the weekend after a tackle from Charlie Adam.
The PFA Player of the Year will wear a protective boot for the next 12 days before starting a rehabilitation programme and, despite the seriousness of the injury, he is expected to be fit for the start of pre-season training.

Spurs head to fourth-place City knowing that only a win will keep them in the hunt for a top-four finish.
Tottenham's current plight is completely different from the turn of the year when they seemed certain to beat their rivals to fourth position, as they did last season.
"It will take a miracle [to finish fourth]," Redknapp said. "Roberto Mancini has got a fantastic squad. They're in a great position. They are six points ahead of us and they have a better goal difference by miles."

Google Unveils Music Service

Google has stepped onto the internet music stage, unveiling a service for finding, listening to or buying songs online. The internet search giant has formed an alliance with Lala.com and MySpace-owned iLike at Capitol Records headquarters in Los Angeles that could cut down on the number of mouse clicks it takes to sample or purchase a song on the Web. "We are very excited today to be introducing a music search feature," the Google vice president of search Marissa Mayer said before a demonstration of the new service known as OneBox.
"The search results will allow you to do a whole song play to verify it is the song you are looking for," rather than just the 30-second stream typical of most major online music providers. Google music search lets people search using song artists, titles, and even snippets of lyrics. Google began rolling out OneBox yesterday, with availability limited to the United States. "I think this is a game-changing thing Google has done," said Wendy Nussbaum of Universal Music Group.
"The key thing for us is you are leading people to legitimate sources of music. Consumers want something easy, and Google gives them that." A pop-up widget powered by iLike or Lala instantly appears with OneBox search results and offers to play the sought-after song. The MySpace box provides links to buying MP3 downloads of songs, matching music videos and upcoming concerts by artists, if any are planned.
"Music on Google; how cool is that?" said iLike founder Ali Partovi, now a senior vice president at MySpace, which bought his company just weeks ago. Mr Partovi described OneBox as "something where everyone is a winner and no one is a loser - the consumer, rights holders, artists, us, that is amazing." Google said it is not getting any share of revenues made by the music services, which have money-sharing deals with artists and record labels behind the content.
